After having done one Family Dog poster at the end of 1968, I tried to get more work out of them and finally got tired of trying. I went to see Bill Graham and, in short, he hired me, so I didn't bother with the Family Dog anymore. After I worked for Bill for a year and half, Chet Helms of the Family Dog asked me if I'd be interested in doing some work for them. By this time they had left the Avalon Ballroom and had produced three shows at Winterland Arena, but then started shows at the Great Highway, a hall at Playland at the Beach by the Cliff House. I said yes, but since he wasn't paying very much, the condition was that I could do almost anything in good taste.
